Champions Cup
After winning the School Slam Series competition in Term 3, our Year 6 boys Basketball team were invited to attend the Basketball WA School Slam Series on Thursday 21st November at Bendat Basketball Centre in Perth.
The School Slam Series (previously Association Cup) is a 1 Day Basketball Tournament played across the State at local basketball facilities. The series includes schools from all over Western Australia, from as far north as Karratha to as far south as Albany. Over 100 schools competed in this event throughout the year, from which the top 16 schools were invited to attend the Champions Cup.
After an early start, our team played exceptionally in their Pool, which moved us onto the final series. After two great wins in the qualifying and semi-finals, we made it into the Grand Final where unfortunately we lost by 3 points to Good Shepherd Catholic School.
The team represented our school with excellence, demonstrating a high level of good sportsmanship throughout the competition. Although we did no come away as champions, we can still be exceptionally proud of the achievements of our school in being the second-best Primary School Basketball Team in Western Australia for 2019.
We would like to thank Mr Anthony Bertelli, who volunteered his time to train and coach the team for the carnival. Your expertise was very much appreciated. We would also like to thank Mrs Shevaun Bertelli for her role as manager and assistant coach.
Congratulations boys on your fine efforts.
